Webster Leads Weekly YouCut Initiative
Asks “What Would YouCut?” to Rein in Runaway Government Spending
Washington, Apr 20 -
(Washington, DC) – U.S. Representative Daniel Webster (FL-08) issued the following video and statement on the interactive YouCut initiative encouraging Central Floridians to vote on proposals to cut wasteful government spending:
“We all have an obligation to leave a legacy for our children and grandchildren that doesn’t mortgage away their future. However, Washington’s cookie-cutter approaches have continued the reckless spending that is leading our nation towards debt, doubt and decline.
“This week we’ll push down the pyramid of power and let you help shake things up in Washington through the YouCut program: a forum for you to help decide which instance of wasteful government spending you want to cut. The time is now to replace Washington’s culture of reckless spending with principled stewardship of your tax dollars. I encourage you to take a moment today and answer the question: 'What would you cut?'” said Webster.
YouCut is a weekly initiative created by the Majority Leader to generate public input on areas of wasteful government spending that should be cut. Each week, three federal programs, expenditures or activities are listed and participants may select the one that they would cut to preserve a stronger America for future generations. Participants may follow along via social media, vote from their mobile devices, and receive up to the minute updates on the progress of their specific choices on recommended cuts. Winning ideas will be drafted into legislation for potential consideration by the House of Representatives.
