Congressman Daniel Webster (FL-10) released the following statement today regarding observance of Memorial Day:
“For over 230 years the U.S. Military has protected Americans against our enemies and the enemies of our friends. The world has changed, and with it our Armed Forces. But the valor, dignity, and courage of the men and women in uniform are steadfast.
“From the greens at Lexington and Concord to the volcanic ash of Iwo Jima and the sands of the Middle East, America’s sons and daughters have answered the call of duty. It is because lives selflessly lived and lost in defense of our country that we have the privilege to live today, free and grateful. May we honor their sacrifices by doing all we can to preserve those freedoms for the next generation,” said Representative Webster.
