Webster Statement on Passage of the Lands Package

Washington, DC – Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, today released the following statement as the U.S. House passed the bipartisan Natural Resources Management Act (S. 47).

“As a Floridian and member of the House Natural Resources Committee, I believe responsible oversight of our nation’s wildlife and environment, while ensuring Americans can enjoy these unique resources is critical. This bill makes needed changes to ensure federal, state and local governments are responsibly and efficiently preserving our parks and public lands for generations to come. It also balances the protection and preservation of federal land, while also allowing sportsmen access.”

Key Provisions of S. 47:

  • Requires funding to be prioritized to improve our national parks and invest in the conservation of federal lands, such as the Everglades.
  • Establishes special youth hunt days, updates our current bow and firearms safety courses, and expands access to public target ranges for all to practice safe shooting.
  • Permits our veterans and active duty military personnel to hunt during special management seasons.
