Press Releases

Representative Daniel Webster (FL-10) issued this statement today following his vote in support of the bipartisan passage of H.J. Res. 90, the Flight Safety Act, and H.J. Res. 91, the Honoring the Families of Fallen Soldiers Act:

“More than a week ago, Congress unanimously passed a measure to provide funds for the military, including survivor benefits and death gratuities. Since then, the President made the decision to withhold these funds from our military families who have lost loved ones defending us overseas.

“It is not right that the families of our fallen heroes should suffer from this arbitrary decision. In a unanimous, bipartisan vote this afternoon, the House of Representatives passed a measure to make clear that funding for death and survivor benefits for family members who have suffered the loss of a loved one in the Armed Forces should proceed without any additional delay. It is our duty to protect and provide for the families of those who have paid the ultimate price.

“I also voted today in favor of the Flight Safety Act, which will reinstate funding for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and ensure that full safety operations remain in place. Both of these measures now await Senate action, and I urge both the Senate and President to support these commonsense measures and enact them without delay.”
