(Winter Garden, FL) – Fresh off another year of rolling back his personal salary to the 2008 level, Representative Daniel Webster (FL-10) has once again returned significant savings from his office budget and led by example in cutting wasteful spending in Washington. For the fourth year in a row, Rep. Webster has saved over 30% of the taxpayer dollars allotted to run his Congressional office. Following the presentation of an oversized check in front of the West Orange Chamber of Commerce this morning, he issued the following statement:

“During my service to Central Florida in Congress, I have been a strong advocate for identifying and cutting waste. I believe in leading by example and getting my own house in order, including voluntarily reducing the money appropriated to my office every year.

“Many of the changes and reforms I have implemented include simple business practices, yet these savings represent what could happen if every government agency and bureaucracy began simply looking for ways to cut waste.

“This week, I also introduced H.R. 579, The To Help Reduce Inefficient Government Tendencies (THRIFT) Act of 2015. If enacted, this bill would provide an incentive to federal departments and agencies that evaluate their own spending and identify measures that reduce costs and improve efficiency.

“If every area of the federal government began intentionally cutting waste, we could get a lot closer to balancing our budget and trimming the massive burden of debt that will be inherited by our children and grandchildren.”
