Rep. Webster Statement on Supreme Court Decision Overturning Roe v. Wade

Washington, DC – Today, Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s published opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, overturning a woman’s right to an abortion established in Roe v. Wade.

“The Supreme Court’s decision is a historic win for life, for our unborn and for Americans. Life is our most precious gift and a right which extends to aborted and unborn children as their first God-given right. The right to life is promised to us in the Declaration of Independence and this ruling is a significant step toward demonstrating these founding principles to the world. This ruling rightfully recognizes states’ rights and returns power to the American people and their state representatives.

“Our work is not done – we also have a responsibility to support and defend the mothers in our communities. I have pushed for improved healthcare access and prenatal care and advocated for pregnant women to receive the care needed to reduce the number of high-risk pregnancies and pregnancy-related deaths across the nation. I have and will continue to support legislation to streamline and improve adoption and foster care. I have not wavered and will continue to work with our state leaders to ensure that life is protected from conception.”
