Webster Votes to Restore Government Accountability
December 18, 2024
Washington, D.C. — Yesterday, Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, voted to pass H.R. 115, the Midnight Rules Relief Act, amending the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to allow Congress to repeal several regulations in a single joint resolution.
“I’ve long advocated for Congress to take back its Constitutional authority, and this bill is a step in the right direction,” said Rep. Webster. “By addressing the unchecked implementation of ‘midnight rules,’ Congress is ensuring that regulations reflect the voice of the American people, and not unelected bureaucrats.”
Under current law, a Congressional joint resolution of disapproval can only include one regulation submitted for review during the final 60 legislative days of a President’s term. This bill would provide greater flexibility and power to Congress by allowing them to jointly disapprove of multiple regulations in a single joint resolution of disapproval.
