Webster Bill to Increase Rural Broadband Access Signed into Law
January 7, 2025
Washington, D.C. — On Saturday, the Eliminating Barriers to Rural Internet Development Grant Eligibility (E-BRIDGE) Act, legislation co-introduced by Congressman Daniel Webster, was signed into law. This legislation was part of the Thomas R. Carper Water Resources Development Act of 2024.
“We know broadband impacts the ability of distressed communities to attract jobs and businesses across a host of other industries, including healthcare and energy sectors, said Rep. Webster. “I’m thrilled that this commonsense bill is now law, removing unnecessary hurdles and helping more Americans get connected. The E-Bridge Act also ensures that efforts to expand broadband access do not harm existing rural broadband providers – often small businesses themselves that have invested time and capital to serve these communities, often through creative ways.”
