Washington, D.C. — Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, today voted to pass the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s budget reconciliation proposal. The proposal supports President Trump’s priorities to secure our borders, protect national security, modernize air traffic control, and improve Coast Guard readiness all while cutting wasteful spending to provide a net reduction of more than $10 billion to the nation’s deficit.

“My number one priority for this bill was to repeal Biden-era Green-New Deal style spending and ensure our U.S. Coast Guard receives the resources they need to do their vital work of protecting our maritime border, conducting search and rescue and stopping illegal immigrants and drug traffickers,” said Rep. Webster. “I am thrilled to say this bill does exactly that which aligns with President Trump’s Arctic and Antarctic priorities. The passage of this proposal marks a critical step towards fulfilling President Trump’s agenda.”

Nearly every week, news outlets report on the brave actions of our U.S. Coast Guard and this bill includes critical investments by providing over $21 billion to modernize the fleet of cutters to support Arctic and coastal operations. It also funds aircraft, shoreside infrastructure and other assets to provide the Coast Guard with the tools it needs to protect our borders, interdict illegal drug operations and migrants, and protect our maritime border and seaports from foreign adversaries.

Webster further commented, “By rejecting the Washington presumption that nothing can be cut from the budget in order to fund priorities without increasing the deficit, we are fulfilling our promise to the American people to put America First.”

The Transportation and Infrastructure budget reconciliation proposal also:

  • Makes major investments in air traffic control modernization, radar systems, and airport safety.
  • Ends free rides for electric vehicles by requiring EVs and hybrid vehicle owners to contribute to the Highway Trust Fund to maintain our nation’s roads.
  • Repeals over $4 billion in unspent taxpayer dollars that were previously designated for far-left environmental projects and eliminates radical Green New Deal style programs created by the so-called Inflation Reduction Act.
