Washington, D.C. — Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, voted to advance the NASA Reauthorization Act of 2026 out of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. This legislation includes several priorities championed by Congressman Webster to reaffirm American leadership in space while strengthening oversight and national security safeguards.

“As the United States works with international partners in space, we must ensure that cooperation does not come at the expense of national security,” said Rep. Webster. “My amendments strengthen accountability and helps protect sensitive American technologies while preserving the integrity of the Artemis Accords.”

The Artemis Accords establish principles for peaceful, transparent, and responsible exploration of space. Congressman Webster’s amendment ensures that NASA maintains oversight and reporting mechanisms if a partner nation fails to uphold its commitments, reinforcing U.S. leadership and protecting American interests.

The committee also adopted another Webster amendment requiring NASA to brief Congress on its progress toward establishing a secure, auditable digital infrastructure foundation. This is designed to improve mission assurance and strengthen data integrity across NASA programs by ensuring Congress has greater visibility into the agency’s digital modernization efforts.

Webster added, “I look forward to supporting this bill on the House floor and advancing America-first policies that keep the United States firmly in the lead in space.”
