Washington, D.C. — Today, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee passed the BUILD America 250 Act, comprehensive surface transportation reauthorization legislation co-introduced by Congressman Daniel Webster R-Clermont, that modernizes America’s infrastructure systems, strengthens supply chains, and improves accountability for taxpayer-funded transportation programs.
“America’s transportation infrastructure programs are essential to economic growth, strengthening our supply chains, and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of people and goods across the country,” said Rep. Webster. “This bill streamlines and reforms key programs that will help improve the safety, efficiency, and long-term reliability of our freight and passenger rail and pipeline systems. It requires real accountability from Amtrak, strengthens oversight of America’s rail network, and eliminates wasteful Biden-era grant programs to ensure taxpayer dollars are invested responsibly. Thanks to Republican leadership, this reauthorization includes reforms that block further spending of American tax dollars on boondoggles like California’s high-speed rail project pipedream.”
