Representative Daniel Webster (FL-10) issued the following statement today following his vote in support of bipartisan passage of H.J.Res. 72, the Honoring Our Promise to America’s Veterans Act:

“As we actively pursue negotiations and a solution to reopen the government, it is only right that we keep the promises we have made to our veterans. Today, I voted to immediately reinstate delayed veterans benefits, including veterans disability payments, the GI Bill, education training and VA home loans that are resulting from a lapse in appropriations.

“We have a duty to ensure that those who have already sacrificed so much for this country receive the care and other services that they were promised when they entered our nation’s Armed Forces. Just as the Senate quickly passed legislation to guarantee the troops are paid, I am hopeful that Senators will also send this bill to the President without delay,”
said Rep. Webster.

Webster also voted in favor of bipartisan passage of H.R. 3230, the Pay Our Guard and Reserve Act, as well H.J.Res. 70, the Open Our National Parks and Museums. These measures will provide pay and allowances to reservist members of the Armed Forces and grant individuals such as WWII veterans in the Honor Flight program the freedom to access our national memorials.
