Washington, D.C. — Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, today voted to pass H.R. 7744, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2026, legislation that ends the Democrats’ shutdown of DHS and ensures the agency can carry out its responsibility of protecting Americans.
“Today, I voted to ensure the Department of Homeland Security is fully operational and has the resources necessary to secure our borders, identify threats, and prevent attacks against the American people. At a time when our nation faces threats from terrorists and other bad actors, it is critical that DHS remains funded and fully operational. This is all the more vital given that during the Biden-Harris administration, nearly 20,000 individuals on the terrorist watchlist attempted to enter the United States, with some even being released into our country. Anyone watching the State of the Union, saw the Democrats demonstrate to the American people that they do not believe the primary responsibility of the federal government is to protect American citizen – sadly today they doubled down on that position.
“Our Coast Guard servicemembers have continued protecting our shores, interdicting drug traffickers, and defending American interests without pay during the Democrats’ shutdown. Their dedication reflects the best of our nation.
