Rep. Webster Votes to Support the Police
May 18, 2023
Washington, D.C. — In keeping with his longstanding support our police, today Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, voted to pass H.Con.Res 40, legislation expressing support for local law enforcement officials, and condemning efforts to defund or dismantle local law enforcement agencies.
“The men and women in blue who courageously answer the call to protect and serve our communities deserve our respect and confidence,” said Rep. Webster. “I am particularly grateful for the good work of Sheriffs Grady Judd, Bill Farmer, Peyton Grinnell and John Mina and the law enforcement officers across my district who work hard serving our community every day. I will continue to support measures that ensure our police officers have the training, tools, and resources needed to keep our neighborhoods and communities safe.”
During National Police Week, House Republicans passed several pieces of legislation to support law enforcement. In addition to H.Con.Res 40, the House passed H.R. 3091, legislation that would allow federal law enforcement officers in good standing to purchase their agency issued handguns, and H.R. 2494, legislation that makes assault of a law enforcement officer by a noncitizen a deportable offense.
