Rep. Webster Votes to Pass the Stop Illegal Entry Act of 2025
September 11, 2025
Washington, D.C. — Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, today voted to pass H.R. 3486, the Stop Illegal Entry Act of 2025, which increases penalties for individuals who illegally enter or reenter the United States after being removed.
“Today, I voted to pass legislation that will help secure our southern border,” said Rep. Webster. “On day one, President Trump took action to restore law and order at our borders. This legislation supports President Trump’s work by strengthening penalties against those who violate our laws. By increasing penalties and establishing tougher sentencing for those with criminal records, this bill upholds Republican’s commitment to enforce the law and protect American citizens.”
The Stop Illegal Entry Act of 2025 strengthens federal law by raising the penalty for unlawful entry from two to five years, increasing punishments for repeat offenders, and establishing mandatory minimum sentences for those with prior criminal convictions who reenter after removal.
