Washington, D.C. — Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, released the following statement after voting to pass H.R. 881, the DHS Restrictions on Confucius Institutes and Chinese Entities of Concern Act, which restricts funding to American universities that have ties to Confucius Institutes and other malign Chinese entities.
“The Chinese Community Party continues to pose a serious threat to America’s national security,” said Rep. Webster. “For too long, Confucius Institutes have served as a tool for the CCP to infiltrate our education system and spread propaganda. During the first Trump Administration, I worked to remove Confucious Institutes from Florida. With President Trump back in the White House, we are taking decisive action to cut off federal funding to any institution that partners with these entities. It’s simple, American taxpayer dollars must never be used to fund foreign influence in our nation’s educational institutions.”
