(Winter Garden, FL) – Today, U.S. Representative Daniel Webster (FL-10) announced that he has saved more than one million taxpayer dollars over the past three years through targeted cuts to his office budget. This milestone savings is a practical expression of his efforts to cut wasteful government spending. For three consecutive years, Webster has returned roughly 30 percent of his taxpayer-funded office budget, including nearly $400,000 this year. As he presented a mock check reflecting the savings back to his Central Florida district, Webster issued the following statement:

“For the past three years that I have had the privilege of representing Central Florida in Congress, I have cut waste and returned significant portions of the money appropriated to run my office. Merely talking about reducing our debt and getting our fiscal house in order is not enough. For too long, Washington has allowed the flawed principle of ‘if its appropriated – spend it,’ to influence the way that the federal government operates. This practice rewards waste instead of rooting it out.”

Webster concluded by announcing that this year’s efforts to cut waste from his office expenses increases the grand total of taxpayer savings from his three years in office to over one million dollars.
