Social Security Administration
How long does it take to process Social Security Disability claims?
Processing an application for Social Security Disability depends on a variety of factors. For more information, call my office at (352) 241-9220, or visit the Social Security Disability Benefits page.
Visit the Social Security Regional Site to find your local Social Security office.
How can I get information about my Social Security retirement benefits?
In addition to receiving assistance from the my office, your local Social Security office can also help you with this issue. Visit the Social Security Regional Site to find your local Social Security office.
Is it true that everyone receiving Social Security benefits must go to an office in person?
No, this is false. If you have no change in your benefits or direct deposit payments, you do NOT need to do anything. If you have a change or need to verify your bank account information, the Social Security Administration has two ways to verify your identity and information - you can do this online or in person. This is due to an increase in direct deposit fraud. Social Security is NOT eliminating phone services and is still available for all other services. More information is available here.
I am eligible for increased benefits through the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO), when will I receive my payments?
On February 25th, the Social Security Administration announced it is immediately beginning to pay retroactive benefits and will increase monthly benefit payments to people whose benefits have been affected by the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO). According to the SSA, most people will receive their one-time retroactive payment by the end of March and many throughout April. The payment will be deposited into the bank account on record with Social Security. Anyone whose monthly benefit is adjusted, or who will get a retroactive payment, will receive a mailed notice from Social Security explaining the benefit change or retroactive payment. Visit the agency’s Social Security Fairness Act webpage to learn more and stay up to date on its progress.
