Washington, D.C. — Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 276, legislation cosponsored by Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, that renames the area formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.
“From supporting vast fisheries and a vibrant tourism industry to serving as a key maritime port and important military asset, the Gulf of America serves a critical role for Florida, the Gulf Coast, and our country,” said Rep. Webster. “President Trump has recognized the importance of this vital body of water, and today my House Republican colleagues and I voted to codify his executive order, officially renaming it to the Gulf of America.”
